Played – 1 July 2017

Anyone that comes here regularly will notice that I did not have a weekly edition of Watched yesterday. That is because I did not watch a single thing this past week. Between wrapping up our fiscal year at work and having to drive back and forth, to and from the North Jersey shore for my kids dance Nationals, I wasn’t around much. I did however find some time to fit a couple things in.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Switch

I know. Everyone has nothing but glowing things to say about this game. I’m in that same camp. The game is great. But, I gave it a whirl in handheld mode this week and no, thank you. I found it uncomfortable to play. It’s funny because I’ve played Mario Kart 8 DX exclusively in handheld mode and had zero problems but I think the extended play time of Zelda didn’t work for me. Anyway, something was bound to make me grumpy about the system at some point. Might as well get it out of the way now.

Mass Effect: Andromeda – Xbox One

There is plenty to nitpick about Andromeda but damn do I get lost inside the world once I’m there. It is so good.

I’ve now spend over 40 hours in the world and I figure by the time I’m done I will have played the game for more than I did first runs of the entire original trilogy. That in itself should indicate to people that this isn’t Mass Effect as we knew it. It is something different. And I’m OK with that because it is fun to be there.

Final Fantasy III – Nintendo DS

Continuing my replay/retry of the Final Fantasy series, I have given III a whirl on the 3DS. I’ve only just gotten out of the tutorial dungeon, so I don’t have much to comment on yet but for DS game, this still looks pretty good.

So, that is what I’ve been playing this week. Do you have any thoughts on these games, if so let me know in the comments. And tell me what you’ve been playing as well.

  1. I need to get back into BoTW soon! I had put it aside to finish Horizon Zero Dawn. Right now I’m playing Final Fantasy IV though. I’m almost finished and once it’s done I’ll go back to Hyrule. 🙂

    1. Are you playing the DS version of FF IV or one of the 2D versions? Either way, great game.

      1. The PSP version that comes with the two spin off games, Interlude and After Years (I’ll play those later though). I’m really enjoying it! It’s the first retro style Final Fantasy game I’ve ever played.

  2. I’ve hardly been in the house at all. I’m reading a bit in the pool, and seeing a couple of movies at the drive-in, but otherwise I’m not super plugged in.
